Description

Delicious and easy-to-make ground chicken patties sweetened with maple syrup and enriched with grated apple.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 Tbsp pure maple syrup
  • ¼ cup grated apple
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp dried parsley (or dried sage)
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil (or avocado oil)

Instructions

  1. Grate the apple until you have ¼ cup. Add the ground chicken, seasonings, apple, and pure maple syrup to a large bowl. Mix to combine. You can do this with your hands or a wooden spoon.
  2. Divide the chicken into equal sized pieces and gently form it into patties that are ½ inch to ¾ inch thick. Line them up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to get them ready to cook. You will have 8-10 patties.
  3. Heat a large nonstick skillet on medium heat. Add the olive oil and heat until it shimmers. Add the first batch of chicken patties to the hot skillet in a single layer. Be sure not to overcrowd the pan. You will likely need to cook a second batch. Cook 4-5 minutes on the first side.
  4. Carefully flip the patties and cook an additional 4-6 minutes on the second side or until they are golden brown and reach an internal temperature of 165℉ (75°C). Cook time will vary depending on your pan and stovetop.
