A delicious homemade focaccia bread recipe with fresh herbs and olive oil.
Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 ¾ cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
- ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary or thyme
- Sea salt flakes for topping
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water with active dry yeast and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough gently and transfer it to a greased baking sheet, stretching it into your desired shape.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with fresh herbs and sea salt flakes. Let rise again for 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add minced garlic or olives to the dough.
- Letting the dough rise longer can enhance flavor.
