Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups water
- 3 bags green tea bags
- 1 cup fresh blueberries (plus extra for garnish)
- 1/3 cup honey or agave syrup
- 1 medium lemon (juice of one)
- to taste cubes ice
- to taste fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Boil the Water: Begin by boiling three cups of water in a saucepan. Once it reaches a rolling boil, remove it from heat.
- Brew the Tea: Add the green tea bags to the boiled water. Let it steep for about 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.
- Prepare the Blueberries: While the tea is steeping, take your fresh blueberries and put them in a separate small saucepan. Add half a cup of water and a third cup of honey/agave syrup.
- Make the Blueberry Syrup: Heat the blueberries over medium heat. Once they begin to burst, stir them gently and let them cook for about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine sieve to separate the syrup from the skins.
- Mix It Up: Strain the brewed green tea and mix it with the blueberry syrup in a large pitcher. Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice.
- Chill: Refrigerate the tea for at least an hour to let it chill completely.
- Serve: Fill glasses with ice, pour the Iced Blueberry Green Tea over the ice, and garnish with fresh blueberries and mint leaves.
