- Red, green, and white candy melts (for decorating)

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter and stir in granulated sugar until combined.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until fully combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan before frosting.
- For the frosting, beat together softened butter and powdered sugar.
- Add heavy cream, vanilla, and salt until the frosting reaches desired consistency.
- Mix in gel food coloring as desired.
- Spread the frosting over cooled brownies and decorate with candy melts and sprinkles.
