- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (Can substitute with coconut oil.)
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Ensure it’s alcohol-free.)
- ½ teaspoon almond extract (Ensure it’s alcohol-free.)
- 3 tablespoons colored sugar or sprinkles (For topping.)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy (around 3-5 minutes).
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
- Scoop spoonfuls of dough (about 1 inch in diameter), roll them into balls, and place them on ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
- Sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles if desired.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Ensure the butter is softened for best results.
- For a nut-free option, omit almond extract.
- Can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
