Description

Deliciously soft butter sugar cookies that are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour (Ensure it’s sifted for best results.)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (Can substitute with coconut oil.)
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Ensure it’s alcohol-free.)
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract (Ensure it’s alcohol-free.)
  • 3 tablespoons colored sugar or sprinkles (For topping.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy (around 3-5 minutes).
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  5. Scoop spoonfuls of dough (about 1 inch in diameter), roll them into balls, and place them on ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  6. Sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles if desired.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is softened for best results.
  • For a nut-free option, omit almond extract.
  • Can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
