Description

A delicious strawberry galette made with fresh strawberries and a flaky crust.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the hulled and quartered strawberries with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Gently toss and let sit for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Roll out the pre-made crust on a lightly floured surface until it’s about 12 inches in diameter.
  4. Transfer the rolled dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Spoon the strawberry mixture into the center of the dough, leaving about a 2-inch border around the edge.
  6. Fold the edges of the dough over the strawberries, pleating it as you go to create a rustic look.
  7. Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg, and sprinkle coarse sugar over the crust.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the strawberries are bubbling.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Can substitute strawberries with seasonal fruits like blueberries or peaches.
  • Adjust sugar according to the sweetness of the strawberries.
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice is preferred.
